hello everone, I'm a nursing student from New Zealand. I'm new here but i have been using this site for advise which has been really helpful. Any way I have a question, I have an ethics essay to write From one of my clinical experience, identify a case which challenged or challenges you. Clearly identify one of the ethical values involved, The problem is the case i choose i don't know which ethics to talk about.
a women was admitted on to the wards for investigation of dizzy spells during her time in hospital she became increasingly uncomfortable with pressure building up and pain in her abdomen every day I would ask her how she was doing and every time I would go and tell her nurse and the doctor. I was told that due to her not being admitted for that reason that it was not a priority and it will sort it's self out, she wasn't having anymore dizzy spells on the 5th of seeing her she broke down she was going to be discharged the next day.
the question is which ethics would this case come under as i think its all of them but we have to pick 1, by the way she ended up getting sent to a tertiary hospital for more investigation.
any advice would be appreciated.

Are you saying the patient could not be diagnosed at your facility due to lack of resources? and had to wait until she was transferred to a facility with more diagnostic services? If so, have you looked up ethical practice when resources are limited?
no, cause she was there for dizzy spells which was due to dehydration and exhaustion and was treated, they won't going to do anything till i said she had to speak up and oftered to stay with her as a support person when the Dr did his rounds, he ended up examined her thats when they decided to transfer her to a tertiary hospital.

I am sorry....I don't know what you are asking and I don't understand your story. Can you try to explain better so I can help?
Hi,
I guess im asking is which nursing ethics was breached? as I think they all were.
Thank you.

If your paper states that all of the ethic values were breached, you will need to write a 100+ page paper to support your hypothesis and you will not be following your instructors instructions to clearly identify one ethical value.
Focus on what is bothering you about the communication and collaboration between you, the nurse and the doctor. Was the collaboration with the team effective or ineffective? did it optimize the patient's safety and quality of care? Did the team communicate effectively for patient safety?
Once you are focused look again at the ethical values that you are using for your essay, are you using your countries nursing code of ethics? or a different resource such as a textbook?
Tell me why you think they all were...Are you in the US?
@Esme the OP mentions New Zealand and their icon is a kiwi bird.
@arohaproud how many value statements does your nurses code of ethics have? What are they? Is there a value that describes a culture of safety in healthcare?
