hello to everyone! i'm new at allnurses.com, i am a second courser who recently graduated last april 8 2006 and has passed the philippine local board examination last july 19, 2006. I'm just waiting to register in the philippine regualtions commision and for my oath taking which will take place this coming August 22, 2006. Anyways, I am glad that the members of allnurses.com have been a great help especially to us newly grads. I just want to ask your help regarding my Nclex application! I am having a dilemma on what state to choose when I am applying for my nclex! My bf leaves in houston and is asking me to get the texas nclex exam, but the thing is one of the requirements in TEXAS nclex is the cgfns-ces and i'm leaving for canada this coming september bec i will be working in a hotel practicing my first course. I dont know if i will be able to finish all my documents in time....my friends from school suggested that i stick with my first choice which is california but i dont know if how long will it take till i receive my ATT from them, since i just applied this july of this year. They told me that i should also check on NEW MEXICO since the requirements are not that difficult and its easier for me to get a license there....i'm really confused and dont know what to do.....pls help me!!! Do you think since i'll be working in canada, i can take my exam there? thank you all for your help it really means a lot!!!:penguin:

Where do you actually wish to work? If it is Texas, then get the CES completed and go on from there. The CES is not an exam, just an evaluation of your coursework that you did. Not sure what there is to be worried about.

The bigger issue that I see is that you cannot submit anything without having the received the license. Nothing will get processed without having that, and CVFNS will not issue the CES without seeing it, and therefore you cannot sit for the NCLEX exam without it. This also holds true for any state, if you took the exam, you must be able to submit a copy of it with the application. You do not have a number yet, so you cannot submit an application to anyone.

CA is four to six months to get the ATT, but they will also not issue you a license, making it a real pain if you wish to endorse to Texas later on. You also will not see your passing score on the computer, but will need to wait for a letter from the BRN.

Yes, you may take the exam in Canada, but the sites do fill up easily in most areas.

Suggest that you read the sticky at the top of the International Forum called the "Primer" -- it will give you information that you need.

:specs: hello everyone. i am from the philippines........i have a question,i just passed the board exam this july 2006, how can I apply for nclex-rn for illinois,,,do i need to apply first before registration?,,,if i need to apply what are the things that I need to accomplish along with my application....please help me thanks a lot

Please take the time to read the sticky at the top of the International Forum.

You do not apply to take the NCLEX exam, you must apply first for licensure to a state. The NCLEX exam is only one part of the licensing process. you must get approval from a state to be able to sit for the exam, and that is at the end of the line, after they have accepted your credentials.

Illinois requires that a CES be done by CGFNS and that you also pass the TOEFL exam before they will even let you sit for the exam.
