Hello from a new member

Hi all, I'm interested in becoming a nurse but am finding myself in a strange situation...

I am a US citizen living in the UK with my British Husband. We both want to move to the States in a couple of years. I would like to get a BS in nursing, but am finding it diffucult to figure out what courses I actually qualify for as I am not eligable for citizenship here and obviously cannot take the courses in the States.

Does anyone know of a good program in London UK or a good online program for people trying to get their degree (BS) in nursing?? (I already have a BA in another subject).

Thanks all:)

Thanks so much

unfortunately in the UK the only way to do nursing is through a university. Another problem that will arise is in the UK nurse training is more specialised so make sure you get experience both practical and theory in general, mental health, Paeds and midwifery. It is roughly just over 3 yrs to do your training and you may have to pay international fees but they may take into consideration marriage to a UK citizen. If you do do your nurse training you will still need to pass NCLEX in the US

Best of luck and hope this helps :)

hi

i was in a similar situation ( but from an eu country) my hubby is english too. most unis will not take u on unless u qualify for the bursary. u need to apply for indefinate leave to remain from the home office( mine took nearly a year to get through, even though it state 12 weeks) and u also need to have been living in the uk for 3 years or more. but if u have that u will be squared away!

good luck
