The best thing to do is start looking around at colleges in your area. You can usually find pretty good information online also at the college website under the nursing department. It will list the pre-requisites and requirements for getting in. You can get a nursing degree without a previous degree. You will need to take all the pre-requisites to get into a program. You can get an associates degree (usually offered at a community college) or a bachelors degree at a university. Some of the prereqs you may find online but I found that it wasn't easy to find and many times more expensive. I found it easier to do them all at the same college. I did find one of them online but that is it, through my college. But many places have classes like psych, sociology, communications, etc online. You probably won't find the A&P and science stuff due to the required lab time. Basically the classes i needed to get into nursing were psychology (general), sociology, interpersonal communications, general biology, A&P I and II, microbiology, and a couple other electives (that I had taken previously with my other degree). I started out doing 1 class at a time due to my young kids. I took all night classes and am now in a night/weekend program for nursing (almost done with year one). I will graduate with an associates degree next spring. I chose this route due to the lower cost and convenience of being a night weekend program (not many around here). I hope to get a bachelors someday and maybe a masters as I get more into the field and determine what I like. It has been a long process. I think I started my first class like at least 3 years ago. I took one class at a time for 2 and a half years. I stuck to what I wanted to accomplish and at the beginning it seemed like I would never ever get there but one step at a time I have slowly progressed. Also wanted to add that, around here at least, it is near impossible to get into a nursing program without taking the pre-reqs first. They are so competitive that they take people who are complete with everything. This is the community colleges, I'm not sure how the universities are to get into the programs. Good luck!
