You mention that you are having trouble getting into a nursing program, but keep in mind that an LVN program is also a nursing program. It might not be the same type of nursing program as the RN program, but it is still a basic nursing program. Some of the LPNs/LVNs might regard it as a slap in the face to refer to one as a "nursing program" and the other as an "LVN program."I am having a hard time getting or even apply to a nursing program I am more behind than the people I started with because of my lower grades. I go to a university in california. Do you think it is a waste of time and effort to just try and go into a LVN program then bridge to a rn? Or simply retake the classes to boost my GPA? I'm nervous of the fact that I'm not sure which nursing programs don't have a point system. I know nursing is what I want to do! Please help!!
Anyhow, LVN-to-RN bridge programs are either closing down in California or scaling back their operations due to budgetary issues that stem from the recession. Obtaining an LVN license before bridging to the RN program might take more time in the long run.
