Having such a difficult time finding work

Published

Hey everyone,

I am a newly CNA grad in new york city and I have been looking for work i believe since early this year when I got certified to become a CNA. I have no idea what to do right now....I have been looking but every agency that I have come across demands me to have experience and How am i suppose to get the "experience" when noone will hire me or give me a chance to work to develop the experience. My question is what did u guys do to find work in your field because I feel I have done everything at the moment to try to find work. Also I am a male newly CNA grad. Any help or wisdom from anyone who has been in my place or just wants to provide good advice, information would be deeply appreciated. Thank you all.

If anyone finds the secret key, they will make million$. Just stay with it, keep trying. Obviously, there are many of us with the same problem, you are not alone!

Where are you applying? Most nursing homes are in need of qualified CNAs. Once you do a year or two in a nursing home you have experience to go on to a hospital or other setting.

Agreed- if you are limiting your search in any way (avoiding certain types of facilities) then rethink that... A lot of long-term care facilities around here (I live in MA) will hire with no experience. Have you looked at any in your area? What about home-health?? I always see postings for Home Health Aids (equivalent to a CNA in the home-health world around here). If you've already explored these options then just keep on looking! SOMETHING has to give. Even take per-diem or a shift/commute that isn't so desirable to get your foot in the door! Don't quit looking though! Maybe even have a friend, family member, or career center help you re-vamp your resume so that employers notice and see you as a strong candidate. Good luck :)

most nursing homes in nyc only hire through agencies but here are a few agency that would take you without experience stallion group and five star staffing the base the on the facility used to work for both of them even got my friend a new a job with them google them and get the numbers, sorry can't find them now but good luck and God bless you

I would like to thank all of you for your responds, I really appreciate everyone's advice, and recommendations. lol I won't give up regardless of how hard it might be and its good to know that I am not alone in these kind of situations. Thank you all, I will step up my game and do whatever it takes to get my foot out ther door.
