Contact my University and ask them to submit my training transcript details to CGFNS for Credential Evaluation Sevice, which is then submitted to NCBON.

At same time start VISA Screen process with CGFNS. Would suggest using FedEX or UPS when you send it as sending via snail mail will take CGFNS a few weeks to open. You can arrange for them to pick up from the university. It is what I did. Better to wait for visa screen as recently changed and only valid for 12 months once you pay fee and any delays may result in you having to re pay for visa screen

Submit Application for Licensure by Examination to NCBON once they accept my CES

Receive confirmation and book NCLEX exam. Pearsonvue who will also give you ATT

Sit exam

Submit VISA Screen and Visa application to US Embassey. NO, your Application is done by employer and you keep visa screen until interview

Medicals and Interview. You will be informed by embassy when you interview date will be and then you arrange medical with designated provider

Sit patiently waiting for that nice postman to deliver me a letter Sit very patiently

It all sounds so easy when you just jot it down and take the emotions away from it. If only that was the case lol.

Am i on the right lines, and if i say about 18 months from start to finish if all goes well would that be a fairly accurate timescale? No one can say but yes look roughly on this time scale

And sorry one more ?, does anyone know what the breakdown is for training hours both theoretical and practical across the various disciplines/branches for North Carolina. You would need to check with them as each has their own requirements

good luck but you won't be able to start the process until you have completed your course and things may change, but this is roughly what would happen if starting process now

I definately have to add plenty of patience is definately required, I sat down with your exact list in April and went for it doing everything I could as quick as possilbe I have a sister in usa helping out to who I will also live with plus a gauranteed offer of employment with sponsership from the director of the hospital my sister works at I was sure it would be a quick and easy process..... Here I am 8 months later and what stage am I at?????????

Yup you got it that is it thats how far ive got. On paper seems easy but the nursing school does not make your request a priority and they take ages. Once all your transcript is submitted then the report is issued. well CGFNS have had my transcript and stated my file is ready for review 4 months now and after months of phone calls and emails ending in a formal complaint they say they will review my file 20th Dec then its 4-6 weeks till I get my report sent to NJ BON.

I most likely do have nursing hours to make up I have not met a nurse trained in the uk after 1999 who hasnt had to either adult/maternity or mental health trained. To make up which I discovered is next to impossible in UK you can go to usa but this involves applying for college and F1 student visa, we have done this and it took us about 5 months. (I think you can do it on a toursist visa if you can time classes right)

Then starts the next leg of the journey, nclex exam, employer, file for green card.

I think in a perfect world 18 months is do able but in reality I wouldnt start counting the 18 months till you have cgfns report in hand and know you have the required hours. From this point I think (retrogression aside) 18 months is realistic.

Im not trying to put you off, but just know how hard it all is and dealing with knowing when to finish work, when to sell the house how to plan the next few years its better to be in the picture with the reality of it. We move out to NJ end of december I start college in January to make up hours.
