I noticed you stated that you did not have ICU experience and was curious what your work experience was and were you accepted.

I plan on taking the same course in September and would love to know how it goes for you after you complete the course and take the exam. I have been out of school for a long time as well and just feel that I need the classroom instruction and structure to help me succeed. Good luck and keep me posted!!

Take a look at the GRE for Dummies book. I used it primarily and it did wonders for me. Not only will it help you learn the basics, but it will teach you how to take the test, what pitfalls to avoid and little tricks to help you do better on the exam.

I phrased that wrong, by the time I start school, I will have 1.5 years of ICU experience with 1.5 years in trauma step down also.

In my interview which was in March, I barely had a year of ICU experience so it was pointed out with the others that was my only liability.

Going to Newman University in Wichita KS. I could suggest to some that applying to programs that many would not even consider because of geographics may be a good idea. Many folks from California or the east coast or Florida would not consider Springfield MO, Wichita KS, North Dakota etc. Out of 18 in my class, only 4 are from out of state, all others are from KS. Those towns have cheap cost of living is also why I looked at them considering I have a wife and two kids.

Just a thought and Colorado has no set program yet.

ps-for the money I would maybe skip a Kaplan course and the Dummies books are always helpful.

I really liked the Princeton Review Study Guide. Princeton Review practice tests and the ones on the ETS CD more accurately assessed how I would do on the actual test. My Kaplan practice scores were ALWAYS way lower.

I wonder if that has anything to do with Kaplans higher score guarantee? Ha Ha! I agree, the Princeton review books are very good. I go to them 1st to review any subject.

Are you referring to the Kaplan in class course? If so, I finish in early Sept and would be happy to keep you posted.

Yes, I am referring to the classroom course. It is 9 weeks every Wed from 6-830 pm. I know alot of people feel that it is not worth the money but you have to do what works best for you and I feel classroom instruction would be most beneficial. I am pleased to know that someone else is taking the course. I hope it helps you!!. Keep me posted.
