GRE study guide

I probably spent too much time trying to find the best GRE prep book on the market that best suited my learning style. After hours in Barnes and Noble, I decided on NOVA's GRE Prep Course by Jeff Kolby and Scott Thornburg. I ended up buying a few others along the way, but this is the one that kept me coming back. The only drawback is that this was written prior to the revision of the test, so the analytical section is obsolete (unless you're like me who actually enjoyed it). I'm sure you could easily supplement it with something else, which probably isn't a bad idea to get several perspectives on the same topics. You certainly don't want to become too narrow minded in your approach to the problems. As far as the review class, scrap it and save your money for bigger and better things like food, shelter, and electricity when you're happily unemployed in CRNA school. Best of luck!

I agree with Charles, save your money, forget the review course. I found the Princeton Review book to be extremely helpful. I also invested in the book with 27 past exams from the organization that gives the GRE(sorry the name excapes me at the moment) and just did one test after another with the Princeton book as a guide. I did very well on the exam, went on to be accepted in NP school and am now working as an ACNP.

I third the motion--don't waste the money!! I admit, I bought one book (aptly titled GRE--review), I did all the practice tests, and away I went. I did fine on all parts.

i agree - don't waste your money - i bought 2 study guides and took the test all in two wks - mind you i suck on standardized tests - i however did well enough to get into the program i wanted - so don't sweat it..

ditto ... don't waste your money. Kaplan is a great program for studying but costs way too much money. So instead I just book their book - I highly advise using it. It comes with an interactive CD-ROM that has a multitude of mini-test's, games and quiz sections, plus 3 true to test-day exams (with results at the end and what score you would have recieved). I bought mine at B&N for maybe $30 and did great on the GRE.

I agree. Don't waste you $$. I used Kaplan. It has a disc which I found very helpful. Prepared for 3 weeks. I did not do great, but good enough to get in to CRNA school. I also suck at standardized tests.
