Grant MacEwan Jan 2014

Hi I just got conditionally accepted and was wordering if anyone has applied there too. I'm really excited and scared at the same time since I've heard so many times that its admission process is kinda stressful. I only know that security clearance is required no earlier than 90 days before classes start, but have no idea about other requirements such as CPR and other stuff.. (well should I just wait for the letter and instructions)

Also I'm currently enrolled into open studies at grant mac only for this fall term. I'm taking 6 credits ahead.. and I don't think that fact (my GPA) on them would affect my status significantly since it is not over 9 credits. Am I correct?

Congrats! You will get a letter saying what you need to do, but you will need CPR (which you will renew yearly, and you need it before clinicals - maybe plan to do it in the summer so that you don't have to worry about renewing during school) as well as a mask fit test and immunization records checked (they will send a form for this as well as info about when to get the mask fitting done). You could go ahead and track down your immunization records to make that process go smoothly.

And yes, you should be fine with 6 credits. Don't take any more though since they will consider that to be applying trough a different route, and will have to re-evaluate the application.

Thank you so much!

I'm currently in the BScN program at MacEwan (September 2013 intake) and there are quite a few requirements outside of the program that may be hard to manage because of class schedule and personal responsibilities. I would strongly recommend getting the CPR/BCLS class out of the way before starting (not sure which one it is exactly so ask the program), and then get the immunizations and N95 mask fit test out of the way ASAP after you get more information. You will also have to do an "It's Your Move" certificate class (4 hours) and they have a recommended APA session you can attend. Good luck with everything!
