Congratulations! If nobody responds here maybe posting in the Texas State Forum will help- at first I thought you were talking about California - the only other state that calls us LVNs.

Do you mean like staffing agencies? I would be afraid to do that until I got a bit of experience!

I'm sure you are and will be a GREAT nurse. Don't let fear get in the way. At staffing agencies, they'll let you know what's expected as far as your duties. BUT....if you really wanna get your experience level up, a hospital would be the best place to start for a new LVN...especially on a med/surg unit or cardiac/med unit!

I appreciate that! As of now I am a nurse's aid/ unit clerk on a fast paced Med Surg floor. I have worked there for over 2 years and float to other units including oncology, postop and ortho. I have had many nurses at work teach me quite a lot. I also sit in on the interview process for new hires, nurses and techs. I have seen many nurses come through that aren't the sharpest crayon in the box, have absolutely no experience, and have only learned what their text book taught them! I don't want to be that nurse! haha I would love to work on the unit I currently am at, but they are trying to get to magnet status, so no new LVNs will be hired.. ever! I would love a job on a med-surg or cardiac unit!
