I work with a student nurse getting ready to graduate in a few weeks. I am racking my brain from the obvious ($$) for a graduation gift. Any suggestions?

there is a book that the instructors at my school tell us that every new nurse should own and have it is called:
From Novice to Expert: Excellence and Power in Clinical Nursing Practice
Patricia Benner, Prentice Hall
It is 40.95 on barnes and Noble, nit sure if your looking to spend that much though :)

I am getting my friends very nice canvas bags (Gap online for $14.99) with their names & credentials embroidered...filling them with nurse "essentials" such as scissors, pill crusher, hemostat, ink pens, lanyard, chocolate, etc. I liked the bag so much I went back and got one for myself. Total is about $50 each, filled.
I am graduating also...this is what I'd like to receive so figured they'd like it too.
Other things I've mentioned to people that ask...gift certificates to uniform stores!

These are nice ideas. I like the tote bag idea.
If you didn't want to spend that much, a $25 American Express gift card is always appreciated. That way he/she can use it towards new shoes, uniforms, new underwear , even a class ring or nursing pin if they're getting one - whatever they need!
$25 doesn't make YOU feel "cheap", and Amex is a teeny bit fancy and accepted pretty much everywhere. It's a reasonable amount but is significant enough that you don't feel like a Scrooge.
Amex charges a small fee for their cards; I think it's five dollars.
