Well I am graduating from nursing school in the Middle of october. My husband just got transferred to Nashville Tennessee. I am finishing here. My question is first is there jobs available for an new nurse from a different state? Also is it going to be harder for me because I am not from the area? I am a little worried about it. I have been hearing about nursing hiring freezes is that true?

as a new grad you are in a different status. new grads get hired and put into new grad orientation programs, so what you should be doing is finding the names of the hospitals in nashville and contacting them now about what they have for new grads. you should be in contact with and have interviews with job prospects long before you graduate and move. be clear with them that tennessee is your home. also, contact the tennessee board of nursing (http://health.state.tn.us/boards/nursing/index.htm) and find out what you will need to do to take your nclex exam there as soon as you graduate because that is where you want to get your state licensure asap. you don't want to get your rn license in the state where you are now and mess around with reciprocity to tennessee.
