Graduate programme

Hi all

I know I don't graduate until March 2008, but I was wondering how long it would take to apply to get in as a new Graduate?

I have been surfing the web and understand that several hospitals offer programmes to recent graduates, but I realise that to gain a place on this, it is very competitive. So my query is when should I start making applications to the hospitals for this Graduate Programme? I am anxious to come over as soon as I graduate, so this would be perfect for me.

over here in your last year at uni, normally a couple of weeks into it you fill out were you would like to go. if memory serves me you write down 5 choices. this goes off and and at the end of the year when you finish.....usually november.....when you get your results the hospitals that you applied to let you know if you get an interview or not. from there its crossing your fingers that you get the hospital you want

queensland health employs over 500 graduates nurses each year in rural, provincial and metropolitan hospitals across the state. there is a centralised online recruitment system to manage the recruitment of graduate nurses to queensland health (the public healthcare system). all applications for graduate nurse positions in queensland health facilities must be submitted via this online system. applications for graduate nurse positions with private hospitals will need to be submitted via that hospital's graduate nurse application process. if you are unsure - contact the hospital concerned to inquire.

the queensland health online application system opens twice per year to receive applications:

• in august to receive applications for 'start-of-year' programs
  
• in march to receive applications for 'mid-year' programs

to be eligible to apply for a graduate nurse program you must have recently completed an undergraduate degree in nursing (pre-registration) or equivalent and be eligible to apply for queensland nursing registration.

you can access the online application system via the queensland health website at: www.health.qld.gov.au. this website also provides specific information about graduate programs at participating facilities.

that is the qld system which is primarily geared toward university graduates from within aust - however don't let that put you off!!
