Last night one of our frequent flyers said to me.... Mandy, youre touble... I said noooo ( in a sarcastic type of way, I am the trouble maker on the unit), he said, youre right, you are evil. To which I responded " Am I the root of all evil?" joking back with him. He said "Yes" I threw my hands above my head and said "Yes, I accomplished my goal." Everyone was laughing in the room, and one of other patients ( who has made great strides recently in treatment, but for a while was one of the sickest patients on the unit) looked at me laughing and said " you're nuts". My reply back... took ya long enough to figure it out, most realize it within 30 mins of meeting me.

I had to repeatedly set firm limits on a psychotic patient who loved to test limits. As he was getting closer to discharge and I was out of my office, I heard him comment in a positive way, to a MHW, "that MrChicago is a tough old guy."
I'm not that old, but I did find it amusing.
