Got rejected from an RN program. Help?

Published

Trying to remain positive here but it is hard, especially since my GPA wasn't off by very much at all (it was literally off by 0.03 points) according to the program's criteria. I guess I'm just seeking for advice from anyone who has been so, so close to meeting the qualifications but ran in to a dead end. Did you strengthen your application and reapply to the same program? Or did you look elsewhere?

Any tips and encouragement would be helpful. Thanks!

Application minimum GPA and accepted GPA can be far apart. A school may require a 3.0 GPA, but the last person accepted into the program may have a 3.5 GPA.

I know the feeling. Where I live there is only one nursing school in a 100mi. radius. They have a point base system and even though I scored in the range that made it in the past three years, I didn't make it. Not even close. What frustrates me is that the bar keeps getting raised higher and higher each year and I seem to just miss it.

If I were you, yes, try to strengthen and try again. But also branch out. This year I'm considering relocating, for example.

Keep it up. We'll get it some day.
