Since none of the hospitals in the area are interested in hiring new grads right now (other than the one residency program that I didn't get into), I applied to several "alternative options." Public health, dialysis, etc. I got a phone call for an interview at Planned Parenthood for next Monday! I was slightly worried that the pay would not be enough for me to survive on and pay student loans back, but it is actually 50 cents more an hour than the residency program offered! Plus, there are no nights. I am so excited for this job, as my passion is women's/reproductive health. Wish me luck at the interview! Also, I take my NCLEX next Thursday... if all goes well, I could have and start a job in the very near future! If it doesn't work out, at least I am getting nibbles for my resume.
I just wanted to share my excitement and tell everyone to keep their head up- something will happen, and when it does you will be walking on air. Please do not open the can of worms that typically gets started whenever Planned Parenthood is mentioned, I won't even bother responding to those posts.

Yay!!!! Here's the best piece of advice/pep talk I got from allnurses.com:
If they've seen your resume and application, and they still offered you an interview, they want to hire you. It's up to you not to lose the job...
This is the attitude I went into my interview with two weeks ago. I got the job.
Good luck, break a leg, knock 'em dead (wonder if that's a good one for healthcare...hmmmm...). Go get that job!

God Luck!!! You are in my prayers for both the taking the boards and your job interview. Be confident and positive, say your prayers and trust the God is in control.

congrats on the phone interview!!! I had a phone interview with PPH also and found out last week that I got the job (after 2 in-person interviews). I passed my boards the last week of May and am ready to start my new job in 2 weeks! i'm super excited.:)
good luck with the interview! it should last only 10 or so mins. they mostly want to know why you want to work for PPH, and just general info for the phone interview since it's a person from HR. You will most likely have to do an in-person interview also with the Nurse manager.
I did the phone interview yesterday when she called, and then set up an in person interview. Thanks for all of the support! I am so ready to get my career up and running!

I worked at Planned Parenthood as an MA when I was working on my first BS. It was not at all how people characterize PP, and I LOVED working there. Best of luck to you!!!
