Good to have Certifications

I'm graduating from nursing school in December with my BSN and was wondering what certifications I should try an have completed before hand that would look good in resumes.

I've been looking at ACLS but there's not many classes offered in my area.

Any replies, thanks in advance!!

It depends on where you want to work. ACLS is probably a good general cert but if you want peds or NICU you might want to take PALS, if you want ED then you might want to take TNCC (trauma nurse training) or ENPC (pediatric emergency training). If you are going to work med/surg you probably don't need any extra certs right away.

Hi!

Yes, it is good to have certifications, but get your feet wet first with good-old med surg nursing for a couple of years. You'll be more familiar then with a course of direction. Just focus on experience for the time being. you may also become certified in Med. Surg. if you like.
