Hey, all,
I've taken the plunge and applied to a FNP program. However, it looks like I will have to procure my own preceptors. Out of curiosity (and for budgeting), what is the going rate for preceptors? Is it per-hour or one-time fee?
Thanks for any information you have!

Hmm...I didn’t even know that preceptors are paid. I know that there are companies that “match” you up with preceptors and the cost depends on the area. I live in the Los Angeles City/County and had trouble with preceptorship when I was completing my MSN last year. However, this year, I just asked a hospitalist that I have worked with for many years to have him precept me (he has his own family practice, urgent care, and plastic clinic). So, I think in that regard, I got very lucky. I think you should ask around if anyone knows of any MD willing to take preceptees (you’re basically working for free for them). Good luck!
Thanks, kmRN33! That's a good idea.
