I am interested in research nursing. I had a conversation with a retired scientist. She suggested volunteering to work on a research project. Before I approach anyone and make a fool of myself, I wanted to ask your opinion, about this idea. I have office skills. I am a great typist. I have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access, so I would be useful in the office. I could help out while I am learning. So what do you think. Should I try this?

It is probably a valid way to get some experience. However, do not let them take advantage of you. Are you a nurse now?
Yes I am. I am a dialysis nurse and i like it just fine, but i know i would be happier in an office setting. I love things like charting and doing research, and I am good with computers. Crazy, right? I know,I would be good at research. It would be a good fit for me. I am more concerned about looking crazy or desperate.
Not at all.
Makes sense.
With your nursing background you can probably find something if you start networking. Put together a letter stating your interest and skills and offer volunteer hours for experience....
