Hi all,
I've been a CNA for a month now and i want to start nursing school in the fall but idk if i should do LPN or RN. I heard the healthcare field is getting rid of LPNs for good. Is this true?? I dont want to waste my time and money becoming a LPN if it is. HELP PLZ!! thanks :)

I have been an LPN for 12 years. I heard it way back then that LPNs were phasing out. I found that there were more LPN jobs after school than RN jobs. Being military, with several moves, I have NEVER not been able to get a job within a week of looking for one. That being said, I've worked at my current job for 5 years... and my last 2 for 3 years and 5 years (overlapping). I do a lot of hospital and clinic work, and working agency - you'll be called in frequently... especially hospital depending on where you live. I am not one to work LTC anymore (been there, done that, won't ever again).
I was a CNA for 5 years before that, and even heard it then... it even kept me out of school for awhile..
I think you are safe... Especially if you like LTC.

It really depends on your area, here the hospitals are phasing out LPNs. I am going back to RN school and I will have many more options afterwards. I do job searching frequently and for LPNs here, options are office or LTC. I like my office job, but will neve advance as an LPN.
Good luck
