Well, the financial aid office has been less (MUCH less) than helpful. I will need aid beyond Federal Stafford Loans due to tuition.
I know there is the PLUS loan, but this requires good credit. I have adverse credit and would not be eligible for this. Being eligible would require an endorser and I'm essentially unwilling to put someone under the unnecessary stress of co-signing a loan.
There is only one other person that knows the details (my SO). I do not care to make this public knowledge to my friends and family, which puts me in a bad place.
Are there private business that endorse these types of loans, or am I basically screwed? If I cannot get additional aid, I can't go to graduate school. I have no idea what to do and the financial aid office has done nothing to help (and won't even give me an award letter until ~6 weeks before the start of class).
This dredges up a lot of misery, anger, regret and general depression from my awful, horrendous marriage. "Divorce, the gift that keeps on giving".
(P.S. My SO has the same history as me, so cannot co-sign)

Yes, there are private loans available through borrowers like Sallie Mae or Wells Fargo. These typically have higher interest rates than government loans (although not that much higher).
I'm not entirely sure what to do about the bad credit; I guess it would depend upon the lender and how bad your score is.
DePaul's financial aid office recommends trying this link: http://www.finaid.org/loans/privatestudentloans.phtml
as a start
Good luck

Another thing I would try is applying for grants and scholarships from your local hospitals and State Nursing org. I know in AZ the state nruses association has a scholarship program for all levels of nursing and the requirements are membership and an essay. The ANA also has a shcolarship program. There are a lot of scholarship programs out there for grad programs hunt them down and you should not have a problem finding the extra money.

Check out TERI loans.... I think it's TERI.net
NOPE (and don't enter that link at work!!!!)
The correct address is http://www.teri.org/
P.S. That actually looks like a good (but expensive!) option. Thanks for the link!
