hey i just startet in october with school for beeing a RN.i heard you have to do a big test if you want to work as a RN in america.
so i was wondering if anyone did that test and what it was like!?
thanks
The test is NCLEX and all nurses who want to work in the US have to sit and pass it. You have a long road ahead of you so would suggest you wait until you have finished nursing school and then see what is happening with nursing in the US and the process you have to go through
Hallo Kay, I'm a German nurse and just did the NCLEX. I found it hard yes but luckily enough I passed.NCLEX ist mostly multiple choice. With a good reviewer book you can make it when your time comes. A good command in English is also essential. It's never too early to get started with your research. Viel Glück!!!
I'm German, and completed my RN education in the US. I'm assuming from your post that you're already in the US and taking your nursing classes here? In that case it's really not much different than for US citizens, and from my experience it really doesn't matter that I'm German. You have to pass the TOEFL in order to get accepted into a US program, so I'm assuming that English proficiency won't be an issue. My visa status becomes relevant mostly in my limited possibilities for employment, but that's the same no matter which country you're from.
yes i just started school in october. i am american. but i study here. and i m planing of moving offer after the 3 years!
It will be slightly easier for you as you do not have to worry about a visa however once you have completed your nurse training you will have to meet BON/BRN requirements for foreign trained nurse. Takes 4-12 months depending on state you apply to before getting eligibility to sit NCLEX. Also remember a lot harder for foreign trained nurse to pass but once you are ready check out the NCLEX forum in the student section where many hints/tips and support for the exam are posted
