Georgia GAPS registration

You will need to register and pay the fee for fingerprints. I had to do this and found it odd because I already had fingerprints done in my previous state, and they go to AFIS (national database). No sense in arguing though, I shut up, paid the fee and got my prints done again.

I'm in the process of applying for licensure by endorsement for Georgia. Can anyone tell me what the GAPS registration is all about. Why must I register at this site before sending application, and is there a $50.15 registration fee for RNs?? As a result of experience, I thought asking this question on this site would be far better/easier than trying to get a hold of someone at the Ga. board of nursing.

Thanks fposey for replying, but I'm not sure I understand. So, I'm going to register and pay them $50 bucks and change to do what?..Send me the manila-type card to get fingerprints done locally on my end and send it back to them? I mean, the instructions just say to register at the site. I suppose once one has created a username and pass and paid them the money, then all information is given. I think the informational process should be explained alongside the information in reference to registering with the cogent site.

you have to apply online first at GAPS and pay the amount. make sure to print your receipt and take it with u to a local police station. ask for 3 finger print cards and fill them all out like the example given on the site. make sure u do 3 cards because if one gets rejected u have 2 more to fall back on. if u have any more questions let me know. i just went through this whole process and got my license within 2 weeks..good luck!!:}

So, we pay the GA BON $60 to endorse us, we pay NurSys $30 to send verification of our license, and then pay Cogent $50? Awesome. I really wouldn't care, if I could do it all online...immediately.

Here's my issue, I cannot figure out GA's Cogent website. I seriously feel a bit...Corky. I was hoping someone could offer me a bit of guidance. Reading this might have helped a bit. Is the Agency/Agency Head my local police station?! Do you see how confused I am!?
