Hi CC, as long as you have met the objectives set last year then you will pass through the gateway without a problem. Your manager will have to give a very good reason to prevent you going throught the gateway. The meeting should be like every other KSF meeting you have had
Have never had a KSF appraisal yet. Will it be like the old apprisals we used to get?
If you've not had one yet then I think you will automatically get through the gateway on default. I think it's a little more structured than the old system. Your first meeting should look at your KSF outline and identify areas for development with targets being set around those. So for example if you look at communication and you were to say that you feel sometimes you don't communicate with the medical staff as much as you feel you should, or that you don't feel assertive enough then you would set an objective around that. You then need to decide how you can evidence improvment for your profile.
using that example you may well chose an incident and reflect on it, indicating how you feel you handled the situation and how you demonstrated an improved assertivness.
Your next meeting then you present your portfolio of evidence to your manager.

I've just completed all my staff appraisals. It should be much better than the old appraisals, and you should already have a good idea of how it is going because you are supposed to be in the driving seat, with it being about your development. There should be no surprises...
