Hi all!
I have been doing so much research on different LVN programs in San Antonio, which I believe are 3 or 4. I have decided on Galen or St. Philip's. I can't find too many reviews on either college. Does anyone know anything about them? I was thinking of going to St. Philip's because it's cheaper, and fully accredited so that I could get my Bachelors later on if I decided to. But then I found a website where it had 6 horrible reviews. They said people were getting beaten up for having money, teacher's were unprofessional, etc... I can't find anything on Galen College, but it's much more expensive. I do believe their LVN program is accredited, but the LVN to RN isn't. I am willing to spend the extra money on a good school, but I just want some info on each school. Also, if you have went to either school...please share your experience, classes, teachers, clinical, and anything you'd like to share!!! Thank you so much!!

Hello,
Either one is a good choice! I went to St Philips for my LVN in 2005...it was safe (oh and Im white and went at night) Never heard one story of anything happening or stolen from students I loved it and thought I got a great education.
I went to Galen and recently graduated their RN program. I would hear the LVN students and see all their projects in the library they were working on. BY FAR...GALEN teaches you more. STP was college learning style read your book and test everyday. Teachers lectured but didnt teach. I learned so much from the galen grads as far as acronyms they learned to remember stuff n how they learned there. Galen is more like High School---structured/projects...slower paced : D.
I just graduated from the RN program and received my diploma ASSOCIATE DEGREE!!! like all NEW programs they have to maintain 80% pass rate on nclex from graduates---1 1/2 ago STP RN program was closed for this same reason....n i dont think it will be a problem. All the people in my class that have taken NCLEX/state boards passed (most of us with only 75 questions)
Galen is pricey but you will receive a quality eduacation and be prepared to work!
Thank you so much for your reply!! I have been going crazy about which school to attend. I would rather attend St. Philip's since it's accredited, so now I feel better. Thank you so much!!
