Frustrated!!!!!!

Ok, I REALLY need help! I am due to start my core classes for LPN on 8/23. I have applied for Pell and Hope. I am recieving 668 from Hope, and 464 from Pell. My total amt for tuition this semester is around 1,000. If Hope isn't covering books anymore, then how am I to pay for them? With the money I am recieving, I still owe money! I am being told different things by different people in the F.A. office. Yesterday, I had someone tell me I should be ok, and covered. Then I had someone else tell me I OWE money! WTH?! I need to order my books, and no, I can't rent them b.c that part of the website is down. I can't price used books right now, b/c that can't be done until Monday when I try to buy used books, and HOPE they have what I need. The total of all my books is 339. I am SOOOOOOOOO frustrated! My husband is going to go with me on Fri to the school to see what is up. I need to know if I need to take a loan out to cover stuff. I have never been to college before, so this is all so new to me. UGh!!!!!!!!

Going to financial aid directly instead of my phone or email is a good idea...as far as books, try half.com and web sites like that..I get all my books used through them or other type sites and the few times I've had to buy new it was still cheaper. The loans are less and less..that's for sure

I've learned financial aid offices are hard to get straight, clear answers from, it's always best to ride up there and talk to them face to face to see what is going on. I also start on 8/23 for my last pre-reqs for LPN, what school are you attending? If it's Middle Georgia Tech, my financial aid for Hope and Pell still haven't went through the system yet, therefore, I don't even know if I'll be able to buy books on the 25th either, since they announced all fees must be paid before you're able to buy books...I'm pretty lost with what's going on at MGT. This is my first time attending a classroom setting since high school. All of my others have been online - and they are not helping my stress levels, or yours I see! Best of luck! We both have to go see what's going on!

Yes, I am also going to MGTC. I wonder if they are ALWAYS this unorganized?! Ugh. So, my husband and I went up there this am, and the computers are FINALLY up and running..But I still have to pay 166 for my books. So, I am HOPING my Stafford goes through on Mon. It's not like I have this money tree in my backyard! Geesh. Do you have any tips on the teachers and classes? Granted, I am taking Math, Englishy, Psych, and Nutrition.

Oh, so they were having computer issues again? They had them on current student registration day for me too! LOL, I'm looking on Bannerweb and my financial aid hasn't even came into affect yet, because it's still saying I owe, when it should all be zeroed out by FA.

I don't remember them being THIS bad when I was going for Early Childhood, but who knows! I also applied for Stafford, I'm hoping mine goes through as well! Although, they haven't even called me up there for me to see the amount they would loan and for me to accept an amount. I called and they told me they would call if they needed any information...that was two weeks ago. I'm hoping things get straightened out no later than the end of next week. It looks as if I'm going to be paying right at $100 out of my pocket for my books too. I guess we'll see how it goes. :\ I think they may just been thrown off by the workload from having to switch from quarters to semesters.

Teachers! Are you doing online or in class? For math, I'd recommend Steve Starks. He was very helpful! I took his online course though, but I imagine he's a great instructor in an actual classroom setting too. I took Writing for English and I had Heather Carr, but this was also online -- She was very thorough with the assignments we had to do, but there wasn't much communication on a personal level, but that didn't really bother me. I aced both classes. They answered questions quickly when I needed answers.
