Frontier Class 176 for CNM and previous classes that were accepted for admission

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello!!

Is anyone else applying for class 176 for Frontier? I am hoping to chat with nurses that are going to apply and previous nurses that were accepted into the program. The deadline is May 9th, how long does the university typically take to send out acceptance emails? I am planning on applying to other programs and even though Frontier is my first choice I do not want to miss an opportunity if accepted somewhere else. Also can anyone speak to how the application is weighted? I have my MSN in education from , which i completed in 16 months. My ADN GPA was great but my RN-BSN GPA was not so great (RN classes were great) however I had went to that university prior to starting nursing school at my community college to get my ADN which is why my total GPA for that school is not the best. Will that weigh into their decision factors? I have a great letters of recommendations coming from a current co-worker, previous co-worker and my academic advisor from my MSN program. This is something I have wanted to do my entire left and I hope that my poor decisions from a freshman does not hinder my goals. Also anyone who is in the program now how are the classes, challenging? Does the instructors help? What about clinical placement, does the school assist with finding preceptors? Thanks for all of your input. I hope to see/speak with all of you soon

Hi there, My name is Janelle and I'm applying for class 176! i'm super nervous. I read somewhere that they usually take 6-8 weeks after the deadline to get back to you on whether you've been accepted or not. i'm not sure how the application is weighed. My cumulative GPA was good but I was worried they might want more OB experience to get into the CNM program? I actually work with someone who is in the program who says it's tough but she loves it. In regards to the clinical placements, I believe she talked about a website on the student portal that gives you a list of acceptable clinical sites and we have to seek these preceptors out from these places.

Hi Janelle! Nice to meet you. I dont think the OB experience weighs as heavily as other things. I have heard of some students getting in with no OB experience. Have you finished your admissions packet yet? I am just going over my essays for spelling and grammar and should be ready to mail out by the end of this week. March is flying by so fast. I want to get mine in ASAP. Fingers crossed for both of us!!! It would be nice to keep in contact with you through the application journey.

Yes! I sent my application packet a little over a week ago but haven't heard back. I was told they would email us when they receive and process our packets. I definitely wanna keep in touch! *Crosses fingers* I hope we get in!

Hi guys! I've been looking at posts on this website for a while now and decided to just go ahead and make an account myself so this is my first post!! I just mailed in my application this morning for the FNU 176 class for the WHNP program. Now the hard part of waiting to hear a response back starts!! We should keep each other updated along the way! Are you guys applying to other programs as well?

Hi! Welcome. I know for sure that once they received and processed our packets they'll email us. The girl that I emailed did say that they were running a bit behind. I didn't hear back two weeks after I sent my packet so I emailed her lol

Have you heard anything yet? I got an email today saying that my admissions officer would either be in contact with me today or Monday. Only a few more weeks until the deadline!! I am hoping they can get through applications and we know sooner rather than later :)

I received an email about 2 weeks after mailing in my application saying that they've received all of my application items and that I'm in the review process and that they'll email us 6-8 weeks before Frontier Bound with their decisions. I assumed I wouldn't hear anything else from them until June or July because that would be 6-8 weeks before Frontier Bound unless they had questions about my application or transcript, etc. Of course I'd love to hear back sooner but I'm not getting my hopes up to avoid obsessing over it haha

Did they contact u again? What did they say??

Hi there,

I also have applied for Frontier's CNM class 176! I received an email today that they received my online application and are in the process of reviewing applicants. They also received my packet yesterday through the post office according to the tracking on my packet. Hopefully they will send out an answer soon! I really want to get in!!! It's the only program I'm applying to because I believe in it so much.

I have read that OB experience is not a requirement for admission. My background is in Urgent Care so hopefully I will still be considered. One of the CNMs through the system I work for said she had a positive experience with FNU. She did say what you put into it, you'll get out of it and that arranging clinicals was difficult. I do know of some other midwives in the area I'm hoping to connect with when it's time for clinicals.

Best of luck to you & keep us posted! :-)
