Dianah I hope that the cellulitis clears up soon

Hi Tweety

NJ22 yes, for some reason the smoke from Canada seems to get directed here

Yesterday started OK, got 1 new case and spent some time on the side project but seemed like a quiet day. Then got another new case in the afternoon. Discouraging, but I plowed ahead and managed to get it done before the day was over. Things finally slowed down the last hour of work. After work stayed in and exercised, warm and humid with air quality alerts again

Today hopefully will have no more more new cases, though I will have 2 short meetings. If nothing unexpected happens it should be a calm day at work. Probably will stay in again tonight, air quality alert remains until Saturday morning I think

Going to be a bit cooler, up to 90, with rain expected this afternoon which should help clear out the smoke

Good morning!

Joe, hope today is good.

Dianah, so glad the Keflex is kicking in. I had a bug bite or something years ago that caused a lot of swelling and cellulitis to my arm with pitting edema. NP opened a the small area, cultured it and it was MRSA. Didn't have the itching though. Responded to oral antibiotics after two weeks. But I had to switch from the initial antibodies the urgent care gave me. I figure if I didn't get it from the bug, I got it from colonies I have in my nares and body from being a hospital nurse.

I was looking at work emails on my phone from home because I wanted to follow up on something and noticed they floated two nurses and made the charge nurse take a full assignment. I've mentioned before how we're signing up working extra shifts, making sure we're well staffed and we wind up floating. I hope they don't do that to me the next three days because I hate working three days and with Monday being an extra day I didn't sign up to take a full assignment so they can float nurses. Not sure what's going on other than nurses taking Summer vacations and being already short staffed, on top of a busy steady stream of admissions. The other day we discharged 14 patients and got 13 admissions with the 14th coming on the next shift. It's exhausting.

Anyway, I'll stay present and enjoy my day off. I've accomplished my big goal of going to the gym, washing sheets and going to the grocery store. Best friend is coming for lunch. Since he's low carb, I'm making chicken thighs and veggie stir fry. I'm using a jarred Jamaican green sauce for the marinade. I like to make my own stuff but no time.

Again, I had the biggest paycheck of my career, beating two weeks ago by $100. It's not sustainable for me to keeping working overtime but two more weeks of my commitment to go.

Hello all!

Tweety, SMH about floating the nurses who scheduled to work OT to help the unit. I'm sure it feels good to pay some things off with the extra money! Hello to George!

Joe, I hope the smoke clears away, and that the fires are soon contained. I also hope your day was calm -- yay, the weekend is upon us!

I slept my usual pattern last night, despite taking Tylenol and Benadryl (50mg) just before lights-out. I woke after two hours and was awake for the next four hours. Finally fell back asleep (after a hot-water treatment for itching) and got up later than I like. Oh well. Cumulatively, I think I got six hours of sleep. The cellulitis, while not gone, has been arrested by the abx. Swelling is decreased, skin not as tight. It is still red and hot and itchy (I think the itchy comes with the source: a wasp sting or bite. I recall my last wasp encounter, though it didn't result in cellulitis, was quite itchy for days). Will see how it looks after another 24 hours of Keflex. There is no distal nerve deficit. I'm glad I made a f/u appointment.

So, today I will do laundry and some cleaning. AH! Time for lunch! W00t!

Have a good day!
