I am in the application process at Fortis College. Starting this January 2011. Please, does anyone have anything good to say about this college. I am 46 and am not wanting to be on any 2 year waiting lists. I really want to get in to my classes. There has to be something good about this college.

If you don't want to wait to get into CSCC then I would try Hondros, Chamberlain, Otterbein, or Capital. I heard bad things about Fortis and you don't want to work really hard and spend so much money to not have an accredited degree when you are done. If you are in Columbus then Hondros is right across the street from Fortis. Only problem is the credits may not transfer if you want to go on to get a BSN or MSN. I don't think the credits transfer from Fortis either. Chamberlain is pricey but the credits transfer.
I know a student that is a student at Hondros. According to her the school is not accredited in there program either. From my understanding they have been trying for a couple of years to get accredited but still have not been able to do so and it could take 2 more years if at all.

Don't do it! Ohio Health, Childrens, and MC Health systems won't even bother to call you with this name on your resume!

As a graduate of that building with windows, because its not a real school, I'd recommend that you never step foot in that place ever again! The cost of attendance is to high, the clinicals are a joke *ull be driving to akron, OH for your Pediactrics clinicals, surprise!*, the classes don't transfer to any school in Ohio, or earth for that matter, students fail midterms, teachers and clinical instructors quit mid semester and most end up over @ Hondros.
They used to be called Bohecker but changed their name to get away from the negative stigma and possible lawsuits. I know you want to be a nurse but you want to be a nurse that knows what she's doing and that place will not get you there.

I am a student at fortis in Ravenna Ohio and I hate it they are very unprofessional in clinical settings there are some instructors that I wonder where they got their license from
I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone, very unprofessional ,very expensive, the administration doesn't care about student once they have your money and ask about the drop out rate

Hondros IS accredited. I did their LPN program and I'm finishing up their RN program. They have full approval from the Ohio Board of Nursing and a few other small accreditations but they're working to get nationally accredited so that the credits can transfer to any university in the country. As of right now, some schools do take their credits. I'm looking into Ohio University's RN to BSN program and they will accept Hondros's credits. You can always check the Ohio Board of Nursing's website to check if a school has full approval or if they're on probation and typically the school's website will list their accreditations.

A lot of the for profit private colleges are "nationally accredited", but regional accreditation is the key to a smooth transition in higher education. I've learned that the hard way myself from attending a nationally accredited college.

I just have to put my 2Cents in....when you go to these type of schools I can pretty much tell you that the bigger hospitals will not look at you. I sit on the retention and hiring committee of one of the bigger hospitals in Cleveland. We prefer BSN prepared, but if I had your resume with one of these "tech" schools on it and someone from LCCC or Tri C....we'd take the one with ADN from the better know school as we are familar with their reputation etc. My best advice is don't go to this school, try to get in at one of the colleges. Good Luck!
