may i know why? R u o program from a diffrent school?

The reason why is far too long to explain on here, and involves many facets that both affect you on a personal level and the NP profession as a whole. The short version is this: Walden University is a for-profit school owned by shareholders who care only about making a profit. They do not care about advancing the NP profession, and you can count on them to do the bare minimum that requires the smallest investment while collecting high tuition money. They admit ANYONE who meets the minimum requirements (90%+ acceptance rate) because they don't care about whether or not you are a quality NP upon graduation. They have no concern for their reputation, and you basically go through pre-fabricated "courses in a box" self-teaching concepts, at which point you find your own preceptors (with no vetting by Walden) who "teach" you with absolutely no compensation from Walden. There is absolutely no quality control, and whether or not you pass the boards or practice as a competent NP is a complete crapshoot. A few years ago, and in some parts of the country, you could get an NP position with a Walden degree, but that is changing. Employers and colleagues are starting to realize how inferior graduates of for-profits really are, and competition for NP positions is ramping up. There are many parts of the country where a Walden graduate doesn't have a chance in **** of getting a job, as they're competing with a plethora of graduates from reputable programs.

In summary: Walden has no standards and shouldn't even be allowed to exist. It is watering down NP education and over saturating the market as they pump out poorly prepared "NPs." The school is a blemish on the profession (as are all for-profits) and it serves as nothing more than another tool for the physician lobbies to use when scaring the public and lawmakers into believing that nurse practitioners are incompetent.

Love that your very honest. Walden will call you everyday to bait you into their program. They act like they're trying to sell you a car.

Worse. At least a car is worth something. A Walden degree? I'm not so sure.

I encountered a similar harassment agenda with a school when I first started considering NP school. It sounded nice up front, but after I learned the price and based on the level of "follow up" following my first conversation, I regretted my decision of requesting more information.

For the individual NP student the most important factor to consider is the boards pass rate. Ask admissions what the pass rate is.
