FNP intern/extern

Does anyone know if there are opportunities out there for FNP students or new grads to do an externship (for students) or internship (for new grads)? I live in TN. I am an FNP student, and I have been an RN for 2 1/2 years. I would like to start an externship (if this is possible) in December 2007 or January 2008. If this is not a likely option, I would like to do an internship when I graduate 12/2008. I just wanted someone to share some wisdom. Thanks

I live in IL and our APN association at the state level will match new grads with more experienced APNs in a mentoring program. Would this be an option?

This is a great question and I was just getting ready to ask the same question. I am a part-time FNP student expected to finish in 2009. TraumaRUs - How long is the mentoring program? Any requirements apart from certification, MSN, and licensure?

What I was wondering about was if there is any short-term (say about 6 months) internship type of program for new grad FNPs which doesn't requre any binding expectation that you would have to stay on the job when the internship was finished.

Okay, got it. This program isn't what you're looking for then. This is a program where you get your own job and then you are assigned a mentor (someone who doesn't work with you necessarily, but who can help you navigate the first year of being an APN)>
