Florida CRNA study

Does anyone know of a recent study that was conducted in Flordia regarding CRNA's and bad outcomes? I am not sure if this information is correct! However, according to studentdoctor.net this has been recently published. Thank you for any input!

I saw that post as well, however I searched Medline and both the national and Florida state MD and NA associations and found nothing. I've learned you must consider the sources of these sorts of posts - i.e. a med student 4 months into medical school.

Thanks for responding...I thought it was a bunch of crap because I didn't find anything either!!

For the past couple of years there has been a lawsuit working its way through the Florida courts regarding regulation of anesthesia in office based procedures. There was a ruling just last week, which (pending appeal to their state Supreme Court) would seem to resolve the issue in our favor.

During this battle there were many briefs filed, and statements made. Both sides presented their views. I wonder if one of these type of statements is what prompted the OP on student MD. If so, these claims are not held to the same standard as those published in respected peer reviewed journals.

But if such a study is coming out, I am sure we will hear about it, and have a chance to review the science involved to evaluate it critically, and comment on the strength of its conclusions. Just because it gets published, doesn't make it so.
