i had to float to the icu today and the staff wasn't helpful at all. i have floated there before and its been fine but today was terrible. I am normally comfortable on my floor of course but they really made me feel stupid. they act like i should know where everything is and how all protocols go. it sucked. anybody have a similar situation today or recently? don't mean to complain but i need some cheering up since i had such a bad day. thanks

Well dont feel bad. They may eventually float to your floor and guess what things roll both ways sometimes.

I'd take your complaints to your NM and then to theirs. Do it in writing. In a specialized area like ICU THEY put their patients at risk not you. Express your concerns for your license and let them know you wont be put in a position like that again. Then,, check the schedule or ask and see whos working before you go, that way if certain people are there you can refuse or put your concerns on the table before you go. It kind of sounds as if you know who you DONT want to work with in that department.
