It's official. A State Auditor will audit my med pass tomorrow morning. My first time. Any thoughts?

Read this entire thread. Lots of good information.

Can a resident receive oral medication in a "public" area(hallway, day room etc.) or do you have to
Bring them to their room or a treatment room to administer oral medication? My residents are all over the place during my morning med pass.

I'm on 11-7 so I don't usually see surveyors (altho they CAN come early). One thing I've heard from my 7-3 co-workers is that they make super-sure the cart is well stocked with everything they might need. The BIG thing they try to do is get the meds for DIFFICULT pts done first BEFORE the surveyors come in, like eye drops and Gtube meds. And if you're a newbie, you may want to do any injections early if you're a little shakey.
Of course, you still need to be within the correct time window for administration. Surveyors are big on privacy, pt identification, and handwashing/sanitizer use. Stay calm, be confident in yourself and you'll present well. Good luck.

In my state we can ask them if they are able to answer, if they would like their meds in hallway/dining rooms etc. It is also care planned as we have mny that get novolog and should get it right before breakfast and they are already in dining room. Hope it went well! We just had our state survey also...stressful!
