First job

Well after much deliberation I have finally been offered a job as a nurse. I will be working in the rehad unit of a LTC. It is very nice. I don't actually start until Oct. 9th, but it will be worth the wait. I am so excited. Do the nurses treat you any different being that you are an LPN and not an RN, because I do know that there are some RN's working there but mostly LPN's.

It is of the utmost importance that you absorb as much of your training as possible and ask questions if you're unsure. Rehab is fast-paced and often resembles a miniature med-surg unit because the patients are higher-acuity than the typical long term care residents.

I'd hate to be the 'doomsayer', but rehab has the highest turnover rate of nurses in any facility I have ever been employed. My workplace hired 6 nurses to work in the rehab station during the month of August. 4 of these newly hired nurses have already quit due to a lack of training.

The rehab RNs have always been respectful and thankful for my help.
