Hi,
I'm interested in starting a nursing program in the Fall of 2016 or Spring 2017. I just don't know what schools to apply to. I have not yet taken the TEAS, as i plan to take it next month.
I want to find the right school for me, and something thats in a good price range! I don't want to be in a whole bunch of debt. I'm currently down to my last two classes for prereqs and its time to buckle down. I don't want to rush through this process, and make the wrong decision.
so far I've come up
Kennesaw state
Georgia state
Emory
Clayton state
Chamberlain College
Has anyone heard about these programs? Anything positive or Negative?

Not every school has the same prereqs so check that first. Go to a state school. Do not do for profit if you can avoid it, at all costs. They cost double or triple and you get the same degree and earn the same salary as other new grads, except you will be too busy paying back the loans to go on trips, get a new car, buy a house.... If you only have 2 classes left, why are you waiting over a year? Go in and talk to an advisor.

You can also check accreditation of programs using the searches offered by ACEN and CCNE, the two national bodies that accredit nursing programs. While you can still become licensed after attending a non-accredited program as long as it's approved by the BON, some employers are requiring applicants to have graduated from an accredited school and non-accredited programs can also cause difficulty when going on to further education.
The state BON should also provide a list of approved programs that will allow you to sit for NCLEX. You should also be able to find NCLEX first time pass rates. A school that doesn't have a good pass rate is one you should avoid- it's an indicator that the school does not prepare its students to critically think at a minimum competency level.
I've already been speaking with an advisor, and most program deadlines for the fall of 2016 are in January some schools march, and for the start of spring 2017, deadlines are in the end of june. So I'm technically applying like now...lol..
