Financial Aid?

Hey everyone,

I'm really worried about how I'm going to pay for school.

I don't get any financial aid through the college. A few semesters, I took out a loan to help me pay for school. Then I tried to reapply to get more money (another loan) and the people I have my loan through told me to contact the school where I had to do an appeal for financial aid. They rejected me. I called financial aid freaking out and they said to pay for a full time semester out of pocket and then apply for financial aid (a loan) again. I couldn't do that because 1. There are no more classes I can take 2. Signing up for classes I didn't need put me in this situation to begin with and 3. I couldn't afford it! So, I took the 2 classes I needed and paid out of pocket for this semester. Now it's time to pay for classes again. I am, once again, being asked to do an appeal. If they reject me this time, do I have any options at all? If I can't take out a loan am I going to have to quit school??! All I have is clinicals left, but I certainly can't pay out of pocket. Help!:o

Thats a bummer. I'd take a semester or two off, get two jobs and live off Ramen noodles to save the money. You only have clinicals left!!

1- Speak to the instructors. A lot know of great information for scholarships.

2- Won't help now, but start saving. My husband and I are doing the Dave Ramsey program to eliminate our debt. We did extend a loan (low interest though) through our bank to pay for my tuition and books this semester, since that has kind of creeped up on us. But our plan for the other semesters- we're putting aside $100/week. That should be plenty to cover books and tuition for my other classes in the future. If you can't do $100/wk, even $20 will help. We can spend $20 in one sitting at a restaurant, so instead we cook and put the money to something else.

I agree with the other posters.

Take a semester off and work. And eat and live CHEAPLY. (At least

gas prices have come down...)

If you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to do it.

Best to you,

diane
