Financial aid and Kaplan

ok - well i just completed mine. their financial aid office here in las vegas is incredible!!! much faster than our community college- you will know pretty much that day (if you have aid before) or within a few days depending on the fafsa return.

my tuition cost $25 k

i received the full pell grant plus one other grant- come to a little over $6k

the rest of it was divided into 2 loans -

sub & unsub - around 17k in loans

i had about $1,300 that was not covered and i had the option to take out a private loan through the school - also an easy process but with higher interst rates. to avoid the rates, i decided to just pay cash $117 a month for 11 months while i am attending school.

i was more than surprised at how easy everything was. hope this helps! i had an efc of 0 so if you have a higher efc the remaining amount will be higher than mine.

Thanks soo much for the info candigirl1985!!! I was told the other day i pretty much got into the program..so im just waiting on the "politics" of everything. I don't think i'll get the pell grant my efc is like 7036 i think. oh well. Thats good that they let you make payments!!! congrats. when do you start school?

December 2... I am so excited- yea if they told you that you are in - THEN you are in. They are not suppose to tell anyone that - but they do LOL. THANK GOD! Its still pretty tense waiting for the OFFICIAL acceptance- but dont worry.

what is efc? I take it is some qualifying factor based on income?
