Financial Aid Help

Published

Does anyone know of any loans that you don't need good credit or a cosigner. I need $6,000 to finish pay this semester. Without out I can't register for next semester. I am in my junior year of the nursing program. I have tried scholarships but my gpa isn't the best. The financial aid office at school is not that helpful. I have even considered joining the army or something. I am so desperate. I feel like I have gotten so far I don't wanna have to take another year off. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks:cry:

i obviously don't know your particular financial situation but credit score is not evaluated for FAFSA government loans. it is a logarithm based entirely on income, financial need, etc. Even if you're not approved for subsidized (interest won't accrue while in school), the unsubsidized loans (interest accrues from the moment you sign the loan) have a favorable interest rate and won't add that much balance to your final amount...maybe $500 total in interest?

as a junior, you should be able to borrow the full amount allotted in unsubsidized loans, which would be more than enough to cover that $6k.

i'm not sure if the deadlines will correlate with your school but check and see if your state has a federal NEALP program. It's a Nurse Education Assistance Loan Program. I believe they award up to $6k in government loans to nursing students. Ohio has a program and I believe other states do as well.

Any bank loan will consult your credit score and in this economic environment, they are tightening the belt on who they lend to, so it seems you need to be looking at the FAFSA route.

As the PP said, you should be able to borrow the full amount. If the financial aid office hasn't been helpful, try again until you get someone who is. My suggestion, walk into the finacial aid office physically and request and application for a student loan. Best of luck, and try not to stress. I think you will find what your looking for without it being necessary to join the army.

The problem is that my gpa fell below a 2.0 so I can't any type of federal aid.IO need to get a loan.

If you can't qualify for government loans, the only other choice would be private loans (although you'd most likely need a co-signer).
