Hey All,
So ever since I began nursing school, I have been browsing this forum because my hearts passion is for neonatal intensive care. I have been endlessly trying to get into the NICU whether it be as an NA, Nurse Extern, preceptorship...anything! Well yesterday I got a completely by surprise phone call and was offered an externship position this fall in the NICU at a very reputable hospital. Its a long story, but I literally didnt even know they were hiring, so imagine my surprise when I got the call. I didnt even have to interview! (It no doubt helped that my pediatric CI is a NNP on the unit :wink2:) Im still pinching myself because it just seems like a situation too good to be true. Anyway, I really want to make a good impression on this unit, because I would love to work there when I graduate in December.
Do you guys have any tips or words of wisdom for a Nurse Extern in the NICU?
Thank you!!

I guess just read up on the basics and show enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Your colleagues will appreciate that.
Good luck and congratulations! :)
