Finally got a job, but..

Hello all,

I finally got a job!

That morning I went in for my first job interview with home health, but due to my lack of experience, I was rejected. I became a little discouraged, but I was determined to not drive 45 minutes back home in vain, so I went to neighboring health facilities to inquire about job openings for RNs. The second place I visited was a long term care facility. They in fact needed to fill some RN positions. After the interview, they hired me on the spot! Have started this week. A day after I accepted the position, a hospital called me for an interview to work on the tele floor later this week. I will be going to the interview.

Now If the hospital hires me, what should I do? Working on the tele floor was what I really wanted to do. At the same time, I would hate to leave the ltc at such short notice. They hired me to work full time and I actually like working there.

I would go to the tele interview and scope it out. Take it all in and hear what they have to say about the hospital/unit to help guide your decision. If you really like your job I would stay there for a while...you can always interview for another tele job at a later time. Just my opinion. Best wishes.

It may take a few months to get the hospital position, between the interview and things like a background check, so just wait and see.

I agree with the above. Sometimes, it takes a while for hospitals to make decisions, specially if they are interviewing a lot of people for the same position, and even after they give you the offer, the hiring process might take a while with paperwork, background/medical checks, etc. ask the HR when should you expect a decision, and also ask them when would orientation start, that way you have an idea. Just go to the interview and see what they say, meanwhile keep your current job, and if you get your Job offer, then submit your notice of resignation

Yes, go to the interview first and see what your options are. If you get offered a job in the hospital and can give your current job a reasonable notice then go for the hospital job.

Thank you all for your input. I'll go to interview and see my options after.
