Finally got a job!

Published

I passed the NCLEX on Jan 7th, moved to a different state in March...took a month to get my new license & this morning I got a job offer! I start July 7th working on a medsurg/oncology floor! "7" must be my lucky number! I was surprised how fast I was able to get a job! Don't give up new grads!

Congratulations.

Specializes in Med-Surg/urology.

Congrats :) I think you will like oncology. I work on a med-surg urology floor but I get a ton of cancer patients too. I think after my year is up I will transition to oncology, it suits me better I think lol.

Congrats!!! :) So, which state has brought you the latest bit of luck??

I've wanted to go into oncology since I was 18, so I'm super happy with this job!

Oh & Florida!

Wow, that's good. I thought about moving to FL, but heard the market was bad for new grads. You might have renewed my hope!

I heard the same thing! It took one of my friends 4 months to find a job. Another almost a year. There is A LOT of ADN programs here so if you have your BSN, you tend to get a job quicker. Its only been 2 months since I got my FL lisence, & I already have a job. Where do you live?

OH. I have some LTC experience and a ASN.

Congratulations!! I am currently in nursing school and working on a research project on new grads who find a job within 6 months of graduating and what they did during nursing school. During nursing school did you volunteer anywhere? Have an externship? Work in a hospital? Thanks!! I hope you love your new job!
