After 2 years of looking for a job with not much luck I've decided to try to get my BSN. I've been researching 2 schools near me that I can actually go to because of the ADN program I went to. I've filled out the FASFA and do qualify for federal aid. I just hope I can get more grants as I think I've nearly maxxed out my federal loans already. If I knew what I know now when I graduated from high school perhaps I would have my bachelor's already. Maybe just getting back into school will help me feel better about myself since it's been very hard on the self esteem to not even rate getting an interview anymore.
Moving is not an option for me and my family so I'm stuck in an area oversaturated with nursing programs. I don't know if getting my BSN will help my job hunt any, but it should at least level the playing field a bit for all those positions that say "BSN preferred" right????
I've even considered University of Phoenix, but they are even more expensive than the two programs that at least are local to me.
Want to know something funny. I'm spending more money in transcript requests than I have in application fee's. Man have those costs gone up, $5 per transcript needed from my ADN, $5 from the community college I went to, $10 per transcript needed from the other 3 schools I've attened.....OUCH!!!
Wish me luck, I think I'm going to need it. I had always planned on getting my BSN, but I was hoping to be employed when I did so.

I'm sorry to hear that things didn't work out in the way that you planned. I'm wishing you luck in getting into the BSN program! Keep us posted!
My problem now is deciding which program to try for. The two local to me only will give some credit from my ADN program meaning I'll have to take extra courses. University of Phoenix, I thinK, accepts all of my ADN credits meaning less extra courses. University of Phoenix is the more expensive program, but if I have to take extra classes at the other schools won't things even out cost-wise?
I'm not giving up looking for meaningful employment, but maybe like I said this will help my self esteem a little bit.
