Felt so smart...for just a second!

I had my first nursing students the other day (I graduated in June, work a med-surg-tele floor) and I was really ready to be a great help to them. I had 2, a guy and a girl, working together to take care of one patient, a total care fellow. I was just full of helpful hints, being supportive and friendly, the best little nurse ever. I did, however, notice the guy was kind of hanging back and the girl was doing all the work, so I gathered since it was the first day of clinicals ever for them he was a little nervous so I would chirp suggestions to him every so often and tell him all kinds of stuff to try, etc. How nice of me.

Especially since he was THE CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR AND WAS A NURSE PRACTITIONER!

:rotfl:

I just thought the lady who introduced herself as the instructor was the only one, never noticed those big letters on his jacket spelling out just who he was. Might need to redo assessment skills...LOL

Ohhhh, well, he was probably noting that you were very helpful... and that is not always the case in clinical time.

That is too funny! :) Once I mistook the Chief of Surgery for a first year intern! :)'
