feeling discouraged :(

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

So I found out today that I was rejected from the COTC-Central ohio technical college program in Newark, Ohio for this Fall . It was for the LPN program. I had a 3.9 gpa there, have a bachelors degree and was done with my prerequisites but Im guessing it was that teas test that prevented me from getting in. I didnt do so well on it.

I have no idea what to do now. I guess I could retake the teas test and apply for the winter quarter but I feel so discouraged and what happens if I dont get accepted again? Now I have a loan I took out for them when I took some classes before the program to get in. A lot of the lpn schools in in the Columbus ohio area are over 12,000 and I dont feel like paying that much for a 1 year program. I already have a student loan from the university. Yes I have a degree but I was laid off due to budget cuts and havent found anything in my career since and theres not that many jobs in Recreation Therapy.

Now I kinda feel that maybe nursing isnt for me but I should have known this wasnt going to be easy . It is a competitive selection at COTC. I would still like to get into nursing in the future because I love helping others and I did pass my stna test but...I just Idk . I guess Im lost

btw I meant to send this to just the LPN thread. but i cant delete the post

Nursing wait list can be hard. Don't give up. IF and only IF you want to be a RN then you will find a way. Look for a trade school that might have an LPN with no or little wait.

Do you mind sharing your TEAS scores? I got a 68.7 on TEAS V and am looking to apply to COTC's program, but I'm real nervous! What did you end up doing?

ROP has a great lvn program in orange county, california. i graduated in 2010 and i learned so much during my 13 months of school. it's very affordable. when i enrolled, i paid around 2,000.

Hey OP,

If you have your BA and all prereq done, do yourself a favor and apply to an accelerated BSN program 12 month to 18 month, you'll be an RN with a BSN, do not waste your time spending 12 months in an LPN program when you can go to a BSN or even a PA program. I am an LPN with a BA and I'm in a LPN to BSN program and I'm in a LPN-RN program online, trying to get my prereq done for either NP or PA school when this is over.

I love being an LPN, but if you have a BA it's wasting your time to go LPN.

Take care

If I could send you the stack of rejection letters I have received from SEVERAL schools you would be mortified.. Don't give up.. retake the test and keep applying. I am and LPN and I just received my letter from the RN school of my dreams after about 8 rejection letters from that ONE school on top of the 20 dollar fee each time. I never gave up, I just keep on going :)! BIG HUGS and GOOD LUCK!!!
