Hey,

Well I applied to UNF for this current fall start but did not get accepted. I have an A.A. from UNF. My problem with UNF is I did my first 2 years there and had some extremely hard teachers. They do not reward AT ALL for loyalty. So I could have gone to FCCJ and gotten a higher GPA and perhaps gotten in. But I didn't and therefore some students from other schools have higher GPAs and get in. FRUSTRATING!

Anyway, I have applied to FCCJ and SJRCC for a january start. If I get in, I will go but I am also appling for UNF's summer start. I would have to quit and start over but it would still be faster than the RN-BSN track.

Are you considering applying to FCCJ? I know they take a lot more applicants. UNF takes 48 twice a year out of 700 applicants. INSANE

Good Luck!

Hi

No, I don't think I will go the ADN route, as I also have an AA degree.

I think the instructors at FCCJ are just as hard ( for the chem type classes) as at a University, at least the ones I have had. I took most of my classes at a university in Oregon and one in San Fransisco, but had to wrap up pre-reqs at FCCJ when I moved here.

I am worried about not getting in. I went to the "So you want to be a nurse" seminar this week. I think I am competitive (GPA wise), but am worried still. I would love to hear about the interview process. Did you make it that far in the application process?

Patty

I am waiting on my acceptance letter from FCCJ to start clinicals in January. I wasn't nervous until I read some of these posts! Should I be nervous? I have taken all my pre-reqs and have a 3.44 GPA and I did very well on my NAT, around 97th percentile. I am so excited to start I can't think about anything else! I should have been almost done, but I just had a baby so I obviously took some time off :) Does anyone know of any good open positions at any of our hospitals? I want to get out of my office job and start doing something medical, but I don't have any experience except school :( Wow, sorry for the looong post!

As far as getting in, who knows! Your scores and GPA look very competitive though! It all depends on the other applicants in the pool with you. They take the best and work their way down the list until spots are filled. I cant tell you about FCCJ--but I know UNF had a summer term GPA average of 3.5 and fall term was 3.7 !YIKES!I am trying for UNF, but all this talk is making me nervous too.

My GPA is 3.6 and i am wrapping up my pre-reqs with micro and statisitics.Any advice for me? Am I being dumb to put all my hopes on UNF? I really want a BSN--but cannot afford JU, and am too old to go thru the ADN and then do RN-BSN later--plus its an extra 18 months of school! I guess I dont have to take NAT for UNF? I went to a seminar there the other night and it was never mentioned.

Hi,

This post is for everyone with questions about both schools. For UNF, if you attend the school there is no application process except the interview. You tell them you want to be included in the class and if your gpa is in the top 100 of around 600-700 you get an interview. The interviews are conducted in a group setting. 6 or so to a group. There are generally 3 interviewees. One of them does not have anything to do with the school, they are generally just a community nurse. The questions are what you might imagine: "why do you want to be a nurse...blah blah blah". 48 are accepted. The letters go out as certified mail (only if you got in) So if you get something in the mail...you did not get an interview. (that part sucks). I did not get an interview. My g.p.a. is a 3.5.

The reason I said I wish I had done my pre reqs at FCCJ or another CC was because in my gen chem class we had 170 people and 30 passed. I took it again the following semester. It was summer, there were maybe 60 and when I finished (with a C) there were maybe 20. Approximately 50 of those people were from my class the following semester. Very Frustrating.

As for FCCJ, I am also waiting for my acceptance letter. I did well on the NAT, and have a 3.5 gpa. The letters come regular mail.

I would not give up on the ADN for anyone. You do 16 months for it, then you can transfer IMMEDIATELY to UNF because they articulate and your BSN is only one year when done full time. Or you can work 2-3 years with an ADN and go straight for your MSN. (if your interested) UCF does this. Probably competitive though.

Sorry so long, I just know that some of this imformation is hard to come by.

AHHH, so tired of waiting!:crying2:
