FCCA

Hello,

I have a few questions for the group. One, what is the FCCA or I should ask , how do you take that particular test? Is it at Pearson Vue? At home? No one really seems to mention exactly what it is.

Also, do you have to take Micro before you can apply and take the CPNE?

Any study tips for LS 3??:uhoh3: I have the study notes 101, I have a few med-surg nclex type question books. I think I am over doing it, I took LS 3 in Dec and made a D, was so discouraged and took a break until this month and have been back hitting the books. I usually feel encouraged when I read the posts on here but not at the moment. This is my last nursing module I need to take then I can apply for FCCA adn CPNE. I also need to do the Mircro.

One last thing, I already work at a hospital, usually on an Ortho floor, will this be of benefit to me in helping me pass the CPNE?

Thanks!:)

Based on my research, FCCA means Focused Clinical Competencies Assessment. This is a 4 credit assignment that is required after completion of all nursing theory exams, and before completion of the CPNE. FCCA is supposed to switch to computer version, but it is still available in paper format which you can take at home, the computerized version will be offered via Pearson Vue, if, and when it becomes available. You are allowed 10 days to complete the assignment, and there is a number listed to call for questions as needed. Most students who have taken it, report a day or two for completion. The 3 part assignment consists of prioritizing care, delegating, interacting with other healthcare professionals.

I believe I have read of students you take their CPNE, and then go back to complete their gen eds, but I believe you have to have completed a certain number of the required gen eds, please don’t quote me on that, best to check with yr nsg advisor.

Sorry, no study tips for LS3. About to take LS1. Do you plan to take a workshop before CPNE?? I think working at a hospital on an Ortho floor is a plus, but please consider doing it the EC way when it comes to CPNE. CPNE is a lot of $$$$, you sure want to pass on your first attempt. Good luck with yr remaining exams:)
