Hi everyone!! My name is Denise and after ALOT of thinking I am going to start taking pre-req classes for Nursing. I would like to get my Associates Degree. I am currently going to Farmingdale State and I started as a business major and I HATE IT! SOOO BORING! I am going to give Nursing a shot - I have read alot about nursing and I have been on this site for a while and I think nursing might be for me.
Does anyone know if Farmingale has a good nursing program - or are there other schools in the area that are better (Nassau Community or example)
Also, After I get my Associates -- how hard would it be for me to actually get a job in a hospital?
Thanks in advance

I wouldnt worry about getting a job as much as I would worry about getting into nursing school. With that said, Farmingdale has a decent program. So does NCC, since youre already a farmingdale student I would stick with them.

I agree.
Both are really good programs. Focus on the short term goal first. There's certainly no shortage of nursing positions, however, they do vary by the area that you want to practice. Don't be fooled into thinking that they'll be begging you to come there, either though :chuckle I graduated last month, and just today got an interview in 2 weeks for a Tele position. Granted, i only applied to 1 health system (since i already work there), but it's not like you just walk out of school and tell them where you want to work.
Still, keep your focus on getting into the nursing program. Then focus on doing well in it. Everything else will fall into place.
