Failed Twice

Published

Took the NCLEX last week (again) and did not pass. Went to a great school and got my nursing degree. Always have done well. Took a review course before my first attempt. I think I must have some self imposed stress. I always get 265 questions! Feeling really discouraged. And I have to wait 90 days to take it again. Can I go to another state in 45 days and try there? Everyone is trying to figure out my next steps. Any suggestions? I have never failed anything in my life...like this.

You might want to try Suzane plan. I did not use it but, alot of people on here talk like it's the way to pass the NCLEX. I have also heard people say you need to give yourself a little break before trying to take it again, and study like you have never studied it before. Whatever you decide good luck in the future.

If you go to another state it will still take you more than 45 days to go through the process. Better to stick where you are and consider reviewing properly. Rushing to re take isn't a good idea. Definitely consider Suzanne's plan

Hey, I just want to let you know that I also failed my NCLEX-RN twice, went to a great college, took review courses and had great grades just like you. However, failing the NCLEX happens, so don't stress to much. The third time I took the NCLEX I prepared by using Suzanne's plan and let me tell you it helped me out so much. Also, I stayed positive throughout the whole studying process (even though I did not want to be studying) and going in to take the test for the third time. Hang in there you will pass the NCLEX-RN monster. Try doing Suzanne's plan, and also stay positive and keep thinking you WILL pass this test!! Good luck, keep me posted on how your studying is going, and let me know when you pass your test!!

Encouraging you to consider Suzanne's plan and take the 90 days required to study again as if you haven't taken the test before. Good luck.

what review course did you do, how did you study and for how long?

Don't beat yourself, this is a hard test, probably one fo the hardest tests they have created to take on this earth. I too felt like, it was a huge setback bc I've never failed in my goals. I took 2 reviews, spent over 2000 bucks just on this exam. I also went to an accredited university. I have gotten all 265 test questions as well.

I don't think there is a right or wrong way to study for this. What I have come to realize is reviews are not personalized to your needs. I think you need to figure out what you are doing wrong, whether its test taking strategies (which is always the number one thing), or your critical thinking in the content. I recently found a resourceful book. its called: Saunders 4th edition Q&A. It breaks it up into the sections of the test (Basic Client Needs: Safety and Infection Control, Management of Care .. etc) and they are hard application/ analysis questions. I think you will find it very helpful. Just expand your options and resources!

Hope your still with me by the end of this message, I know its a little long. Remember, when you are studying, quality is better over quantity.

The only time you will get 265 questions is when you doubt yourself. You need to be Confident!!!

I'm feeling you! It's hard when everyone around you is passing and you feel stuck because you cannnot get past this obstacle. You will get past this! I'm a horrible test taker and I remember sitting in the exam just panicing because the questions kept coming and coming. I think I psyched myself out. Like another poster said, you have to feel as confident as possible (which seems impossible I know). But you know your smart, you know you can do this. Don't give up!

hmmm....maybe I need to take my own advice! I have heard great things on this board about Suzanne's Plan and plan on using that to study again.

Good luck to you!!
